Workgroup first years

First-year operation organizes events specifically geared toward freshmen such as introductory weekend, baptisms, hazing, PEME activities as well as PAL sessions, Info Moments and many more. Freshmen can also contact first year working anytime they have questions about the program, activities, etc.

Welcoming weekend

Every year, the First Year Working organizes a weekend before the start of the academic year where freshmen get to know each other before the academic year starts. For two days, the praesidium take the freshmen on a weekend to remember. During these two days they get to know each other, the praesidium and get a taste of Leuven’s student life. So you start the academic year with full courage and a whole bunch of friends!

Hazing/baptism

The student baptism is, within our student union, the first step of a freshman to become a traditional member (commilito). Baptism is usually characterized by a number of physical trials and games and concluded with a ceremonial portion/cantus. We at Industria have been conducting baptisms for years that could be taken as an example of how it should be done and will continue that again this year.

This activity aims to unite freshmen, giving them a starting shot at student life. This way the freshmen get to know not only each other, but also Industria and its members.

PeMe

PeMe groups (or peter-meter groups) consist of committed higher year students who take charge of a group of freshmen to help them through their college careers. Freshmen who sign up to be in a peme group experience many benefits. Not only will you receive relevant study advice and the best tips for succeeding, within your PeMe group you will also make friends for life! The senior students will organize various activities, support you with your studies, give you a taste of Leuven student life and much more!

BAC praesidium

After your first semester at Group T, would you like to get a taste of what it feels like to organize fun events for fellow students as a praesidium member? Then the BAC praesidium is definitely for you! The last week before Easter break, a group of committed freshmen will take over the praesidium for a week! This gives the BAC praesidium the chance to organize a BSA, TD, cantus,…. By participating in the BAC praesidium you learn all the organizational skills, make new friends and get a taste of what it’s like to organize activities for your fellow students, so what are you waiting for?

There is also a Facebookgroup for all freshmen that has weekly updates on Industria activities. If you ever have a question about an activity or anything else, don’t hesitate to send us a message on Facebook, or send an email to ejw@industria.be .
