Quaestors

The financial management of Industria is in the hands of the two Quaestors. The word quaestor (Latin for 'he who asks') comes from the time of the Roman Empire. A quaestor was an elected public representative, who oversaw the treasury and finances of the Roman Republic. Despite the fact that the Roman Republic no longer exists, the term is still used until today. Do you want to know more about the tasks of the Quaestors? Be sure to take a look below!

Budgeting

One of the biggest tasks that the Quaestors take on is budgeting.

Budgeting is the preparation of a financial overview. This starts with asking the vices what activities they want to do and what expenses are involved. This is used to draw up a starting budget. All costs are estimated as accurately as possible before the start of the academic year to avoid there being too much/little money throughout the year.

After the first semester, the half-yearly budget is drawn up. The actual costs and income of the first semester are filled in and the starting budget is reviewed for the second semester.

Finally, the actual budgeting at the end of the financial year is drawn up by filling in the actual costs and income for the whole year.

Invoices

All invoices also pass through the Quaestors. Every quarter, all invoices are collected and all expenses are linked to an invoice. This actual expenditure can therefor be entered in the budgeting.

At the end of the quarter they also send all the invoices to the accountant who keeps an overview of our financial position.

Payments

The Quaestors are of course also responsible for all payments. For example, they have access to all six accounts of Industria. Do you want to know what we have six accounts for? Then be sure to have a look at our Internal Regulations!

Both physical and online payments are payed by the Quaestors. For every activity where you can pay in cash, they also provide a cash register, which is counted by them afterwards afterwards.

Council of Quaestors

The Council of Quaestors (or RvQ) is a consultative body comprising the current Quaestors and the Quaestors of the previous years. It often reviews all the budgets, but other financial matters are also discussed here. In this way, the previous Quaestors can oversee the current Quaestors to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Miscellaneous

In addition to the above tasks, the Quaestors also take on other tasks.

The Quaestors also sit on the Board by default. Here they help in the day-to-day management of Industria.

Furthermore, they manage matters such as insurances, subsidy applications, investments and much more!
